100 girls attend SPTW events in West London

Sunday 26th February 2023 saw 100 girls attend a huge She Plays To Win event in West London.

Thanks to the kind and generous support of Ellen Wilkinson School for Girls, we were able to hold two events.

70 girls attended the Starter Tournament, an opportunity for girls with little or no tournament experience to get crucial practice in a tournament enviroment.

Swechha from South East London won this event as the only person to win all 5 games- well done Swechha!

Extra to this, 30 girls had a fantastic opportunity as they got to play against 5 times England women’s champions, IM Harriet Hunt and IM Susan Lalic, in a simultaneous exhibition. Harriet and Susan took on 15 girls each- both lost just game, to Emily Maton and Mia Mouskos. Emily and Mia are part of the SPTW team in the national league (4NCL) and are some of a number of hugely promising girls we have in the UK.

You will have seen Mia already- she is the girl on our homepage!

Great fun was had by all, SPTW would like to thank all the volunteers and Ellen Wilkinson School for their support both on the day and in helping to organise the event.
