Anna wins the 1st SPTW Young Stars Tournament!

The 1st She Plays To Win Young Stars Tournament was a success as 24 girls aged school year 2 and below (age 7 and younger) from across the UK played in the inaugural event on the Lichess server.

The event was 6 rounds ‘swiss’ event (not knockout, players play all games) with 7 minutes per player per game, with 5 seconds per move added on.

The level of play was high and many games went the distance.

In the end, Anna Gray of Oxford won all her 6 games, scooping the first prize of a SPTW hoodie, £20 chess.co.uk voucher and a lesson with England Women’s International Zoe Varney. Anna was said to have been ‘thrilled and bouncing around the house’ on her victory!

Liana came second with 5 points from her 6 games, and Zeina came 3rd on tie break on 4/6 points.

Well done to all the girls who played!
