Svetlana & Riya triumph in Edinburgh
The 2nd She Plays To Win International was held in Edinburgh from 15th-19th February 2023.
The setting was the historic Edinburgh Chess Club, who have recently celebrated their bicentenary. They are one of the oldest chess clubs in the world.
10 players participated in the Woman International Master (WIM) Norm event, including local Grandmaster Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant. However, she had to settle for second place behind a superb performance for WIM Svetlana Sucikova who scored 8/9. WIM Fiona Steil-Antoni claimed the third place trophy on tie break with 5.5/9 ahead of top English scorer, Kamila Hryshchenko.
10 players also took part in the Challengers Event held alongside the WIM Norm event.
Riya Barbier-Ramaiah won the event with 7.5/9, just ahead of Alannah Ashton (7) and Florence Wilson (6).
Well done to all the girls who played!
