Girls success at the European Youth Championships

The European Youth Championships took place as a ‘hybrid’ event from 15-21 October 2021.

900 players from 33 European Federations took part across 58 approved hybrid venues. This involved players playing their opponents online in a venue under official arbitration, to ensure fair play.

7 girls and 6 boys represented England across the Under 8 up to Under 18 age categories.

The best success by the English girls were in the Under 8s, as Zoe Veselow came 5th and Bodhana Sivanathan came 13th.

The Under 10s saw Ruqqayah Rida finish an excellent 8th, this after competing in the last round for a medal position.

Full English girl results:

U8- Zoe Veselow 6.5/9, Bodhana Sivanathan 5.5/9

U10- Ruqqayah Rida 6/9, Alannah Ashton 4/9

U14- Emily Maton, Olga Latypova both 4/9

U16- Julia Volovich 5/9 for 19th place

Wales saw Khushi Bagga, a multi podium finisher in the SPTW online Events, score 3 in the tough Under 14 girls event.

All of these girls have played in SPTW Events at some point since SPTW inception in April 2020. Well done to everyone in what was a gruelling and long competition!
