SPTW featured in the Daily Telegraph

19-22 December 2020 saw a She Plays To Win team of 5 girls represent SPTW in the European Online Women’s Club Cup.

Cassie, Kristina, Nina, Emily and Alisha made up the SPTW team.

Over 40 teams from across Europe took part, including many current and former Women’s World Champions. Our very own Kristina took on 2008 women’s world champion, Alexandra Kosteniuk of Russia in the first round- what an experience!

Malcolm Pein wrote about SPTW and the team in his Daily Telegraph chess column, as well as his Chessable blog

Despite being bottom seeds, the girls fought hard in their games and performed well against much higher ranked teams.

These experiences bode well for the future as SPTW encourages our top girls to participate against top opposition.
